Leader in Biomedical Textiles Expands National Sales Capabilities, Hires Kyle Mullens and Tim McGinnis


Perkasie, Penna. – September 16, 2009 – Secant Medical™, the leader in the design, development, and custom manufacture of biomedical textile structures, announces it has expanded its national sales team by hiring two business development specialists with expertise in the medical device industry. The company has added Kyle Mullens as director of business development, Orthopedics and Tim McGinnis as director of business development, Cardiovascular as part of a recent initiative to bolster its marketing and sales efforts for its fiscal year 2010, which began September 1.

Mullens' experience includes sales and product management work for K2M Inc., a spinal device company specializing in surgical solutions for complex spinal pathologies, where he created product commercialization programs to help drive surgeon adoption and spur sales growth. Mullens, who holds a B.S. in Plastics Engineering from Ferris State University in Michigan, previously managed business development responsibilities for A. Schulman Inc., a key supplier of polymer resin to the medical, packaging and automotive industries. At Secant Medical, he will be responsible for expanding sales growth in the orthopedics market segment.

Before joining Secant Medical, McGinnis served as global sales manager for Dyneema Purity® at the Biomedical Materials Division of DSM Biomedical, where he created and managed multi-disciplinary business development programs for reaching medical device decision-makers involved in biomaterial selection to drive sales growth. Previously, he was a clinical sales representative for Ethicon Products, Inc., a leading provider of medical devices for the cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurovascular and general surgery markets. In his role at Secant Medical, McGinnis will handle expanding sales in the cardiovascular market segment.

According to Karen West, general manager of Secant Medical, the expansion of the company's business development team was carefully timed.
