Biomedical Engineering Production Processes
Once a project is officially transferred from Research and Development, production is conducted by our skilled technicians in environmentally controlled facilities and ISO class 7 and 8 cleanrooms. Internal specifications and processes are developed and maintained in compliance with Secant Medical's stringent Quality system.
Research and Development Production Processes:
- Yarn Preparation
Yarn preparation ("yarn prep") ensures that the yarns used in both development and production are of consistent length, tension and condition. - Design & Equipment Setup
Secant Medical's experienced engineers and skilled technicians exploit our technologies' high degree of process control to design and make structures best suited to your application. - Scouring
Secant Medical’s uses a water-based scour system to clean certain products after they are made. The system uses validated USP purified water under tightly controlled temperature and flow conditions. - Heat-Setting
Heat-setting relieves the stresses that were worked into the yarn or wire as the product was being made, ensuring consistent and predictable mechanical properties. Both biomedical polymer and metal products benefit from this process. Heat-setting can also be used to form products into complex 3D shapes. - Post-Production
Secant Medical can apply any number of value-added post-production processes, including:
- Outsourcing to trusted, approved resources for annealing, coating, forming, packaging, sterilization or other processes.
- Slitting into specific panel widths.
- Cutting to specific lengths or shapes.
- Packaging of small components.
